The 2022 bundle surpassed that, generating over US$32 million total, meaning each qualified team received over US$1 million. Producer Laura Baltzer said the design goal was to give players something "aspirational and bold, that let you flex and show off your skill whether you're popping off in ranked or dropping 30 on the VCT broadcast." The knife introduced the Champion's Aura system with a progressive kill effect that Art Lead Stefan Jevremovic said took "almost a year developing" because the team "had ideas for the Champion's Aura in 2021 we weren't able to create in time." The butterfly knife has a gold glowing outline when the player holds the most kills in the match (no ties). Every 5 kills, red crystal shards incrementally fill the blade, maxing out at 25 kills. At 25 kills while top fragging, a hidden custom inspect animation triggers, described as embodying "what it means to be a champion." Jevremovic added: "The player may not get to see their skin fully in every single game, but when they do, it will feel that much more satisfying." The design was inspired by the Champions 2022 color palette, music video, and logo, with the VCT spark logo appearing on the back of the weapon. Features 3 upgrade levels.
