Reaver Guardian

EP 1: Ignition, Act 3 · November 3, 2020 · 1,775 VP. Part of the original Reaver bundle alongside the Vandal, Sheriff, Operator, and Knife. Like the rest of the line, the Guardian first appeared during the Closed Beta as part of VALORANT's first skin prototype, codenamed "Dark Fantasy" (later "SoulStealer"), dating back to 2018. Art Lead Sean Marino cited "dark magic, runes, and vampire hunters" as core inspiration. The Guardian was pulled at launch along with the entire Reaver set because the line was never intended to return after serving as a test bed for custom models, animations, VFX, audio, and finishers. Persistent community demand ("bring back Reaver") led to the reworked re release in November 2020. The Guardian benefits from the semi auto's natural pacing, which pairs well with Reaver's deliberately slow, telekinetic animations and deep, unsettling firing audio. VFX artist Stefan Jevremovic's signature pure black muzzle flash, described as "totally black, like black black, like buh lack with maybe a hint of dark purple," hits especially hard on single taps. The satisfaction of landing a one tap headshot with the Reaver Guardian is frequently cited by the community as one of the best feelings in the game, rivaling even the Vandal version. Features 3 color variants (red, black, white) and 4 upgrade levels: Level 1 custom model and ADS reticle, Level 2 custom muzzle flash and firing audio, Level 3 glowing runes with custom reload and equip animations, Level 4 finisher and kill banner. The Reaver Guardian was also included in the Run It Back: Reaver bundle in January 2026 alongside other popular EP 1 and EP 5 Reaver skins, confirming its enduring popularity nearly six years after its original release.
