The entire Singularity concept was born after the dev team watched a viral video of a washing machine stuffed with bricks spinning out of control. Producer Preeti Khanolkar said that video gave them the one word to describe the feeling they were going for: "unstable." The team agreed Singularity was an unknown rock from another world, and the intensity would come from its instability during animations. Art Lead Sean Marino described the skin's otherworldly shape as something that "couldn't be from this planet or time in history." The knife uses the default tactical knife animation set, which drew community criticism at launch. Marino responded directly on Reddit, explaining they intentionally kept it on the base melee animation to give players who prefer that style a premium option with a new model, effects, and audio.
